Skills Acquisition & Healthy Eating

This week is an auditions GHOST TOWN. I wish casting directors could somehow communicate with each other when they schedule their calls... it always seems to be the case that there are a million auditions (so many at conflicting times) one week, and literally NONE the next week.

But as every body says, that's the business.

The state of no auditions is not necessarily a cause for melancholy! I've got a gym membership to use, work study classes at Broadway Dance Center to take advantage of, and my pick of glorious Trader Joes city wide to meet my healthy eating needs.

Today I took Chris Bailey's class on Evita repertory. He really is a phenomenal teacher in addition to being a great choreographer! The best part about his master classes are that he treats them like an audition (this is the same choreographer from How To Succeed last week). The only downside to this approach is that you better be warm before hand, because he starts teaching choreo the minute he walks into the room.

Chris gives such fabulous character suggestions and movement feedback, I want everybody to take his class! (Check out more info here: http://broadwaydancecenter.com/faculty/bios/bailey_chris.shtml

It's also been valuable for me to work on the super dusty floor (its nearly impossible to dance in character heels without sliding in that studio for some reason). There's always an element of the unknown with every audition. Be prepared for anything!

Lastly, I'd just like to coo about Trader Joes. It really is a marvelous place and it always seems to remind me of home and happiness and sunshine and affordability. With my Costco roommate dates combined with access to the nearby TJs, I have no excuse not to eat well and inexpensively. So many fresh fruits and veggies and sources of protein in my house right now!

Happy Tuesday,

A Broadway Baby
